PRODUCT DETAILS
SOLD This unusual Edwardian silhouette (this etching is 1938 - reproduced from an 1830 original by Gros which can be seen in the Victoria and Albert museum) depicts a crowd,
possibly at a country fair, watching a hot air balloon launch. A silhouette of Mr Blanchard sits above - he was an early ballooning enthusiast of the eighteenth century. The monochrome gold and black which lends such a glamorous feel to the picture, is achieved by etching in black on gilt metal. This piece glows like a little gem and would do a great job lighting up a corner or adding dimension to a gallery wall.
