1603 World Map - De Globo Terrae

This original hand-coloured world map was published in Amsterdam in 1603 by Petrus Bertius. Representing the inaccuracies of the continental land masses as they were understood to be in that period, this example of his work is beautifully preserved, highly coloured and demonstrates the intricate strapwork and compact size that he is celebrated for. 

We have paired this rare piece with a wonderful French antique frame that reflects the importance of the map itself.
