Four French botanical drawings of pears from the 1870s

PRODUCT DETAILS

These hand-coloured steel-engravings are presented in immaculate conditiosn and offer excellent colouring, they are extremely decorative and would look gret in a group in a kitchen or garden room, or brightening up a boot room perhaps.

The species depticted are the popular varieties of the period: Angeleterre, Bellesime, sans patu, and belle de vitry (peach). All are recorded as a complete fruit, in section and an example of the leaf, blossom and seed. The green of the pears is a surprisingly vibrant green that gives them a fresh and unusual appeal.

They have been simply framed, letting the colours and the subjects speak for themselves.

Please note There are a pair of plums also listed in this section which have a different frame colour but are intended to complement the colourways of this series.
